3. Medicalholodeck AI

3.V1.9-01

Automatically segment DICOM data to identify and separate organs, bones, and tissues. The AI uses expert-labeled models to perform segmentation in seconds.

Use Medicalholodeck AI to automatically identify and separate anatomical structures in CT and MRI scans.

Start by opening the Data tab and loading a dataset from the Medical Imaging XR section. When the dataset is loaded, open the AI tab in the sidebar.

Choose the AI model that best matches your scan and the anatomy you want to identify and press 'Start' to begin segmentation.

When processing is complete, the segmentation appears as an overlay on the original DICOM dataset. The detected structures are listed in the AI panel and organized into groups.

You can adjust the transparency of the entire dataset, the background, or individual sections and structures using the sliders. The visibility can be toggled on or off, and you can choose how the data is displayed using the main or segmentation transfer function.

Enable Smoothed Segmentation to soften the edges of segmented structures.

Open the segmentation transfer function to customize the selected structure. Click an empty area of the graph to add a color pin. Move the pins vertically – to adjust transparency, or horizontally to assign colors to specific HU values. Select a pin to change its color or delete it.

In the Tissue Filter section drag the pins along the slider to set the visible HU range. To move the entire range without changing its width, drag the selected area along the slider.

Select Zoom In to expand the selected HU range across the axis. This makes precise adjustments easier. Select Zoom Out to restore the default HU axis.

Control how colors respond to changes in the tissue filter using Map Colors to Range. When enabled, the colors automatically redistribute across the selected HU range. When disabled, each color remains assigned to a fixed HU value. Narrowing the range may therefore hide some colors.

Settings applied to a group override the individual settings of the structures inside that group. Edit an individual structure only when you want it to appear differently from the rest of its group.
